Membership

Membership is open to all individuals who are engaged in travel, transportation, lodging and associated professions.  Please fill out our online application.

Mission Statement

The purpose of this association shall be to protect, promote, foster and advance the general welfare and interest of the commercial traveler, to establish channels of communication and to stimulate, promote and secure cooperation between its members and other persons, firms and corporations employing members of the travel profession, passenger carriers, hoteliers, governmental agencies having jurisdiction over various aspects of passenger transport, and others concerned with the requirements of the commercial traveler for the purpose of improving conditions and advancing the welfare and interests of the commercial traveler and the business travel professional.

To promote, encourage, establish and conduct investigations, surveys and research in subjects useful to the travel profession and beneficial to it and the commercial traveler.

-        Programs and Education.  NYCBTA devotes the bulk of our resources to the education and professional skill development of our members.  Understanding that corporate business travel is at the crossroads of change, NYCBTA believes that a complete and intimate knowledge of the travel industry is crucial to the success of its members.  Throughout the year, educational programs are held on a wide variety of topic¡¦s affecting business travel management; from new developments in technology to changes in local and national purchasing trends.
-        Networking.  Success in any business begins with establishing relationships among professionals in its industry.  By actively participating in monthly meetings and other exciting events, NYCBTA members network and establish the professional relationships necessary for success.  Promoting the healthy exchange of ideas and information, NYCBTA enthusiastically welcomes the challenges of the 21st Century and vigorously represents and supports the needs and interests of those involved in the fields of business travel.
-        Volunteerism and Leadership.  At the core of NYCBTA are volunteers who compose our officers and committees.  Accomplished and respected professionals in the travel management industry, they focus on specific issues which will affect our members.  Because we are a collective of interested and motivated individuals, our members have the opportunity to actively participate in the functioning of NYCBTA, gain the experience to grow professionally and assume leadership positions.  By providing an information network where those pursuing careers in travel management can associate closely with industry leaders on important issues, NYCBTA is the ideal venue for individuals of all abilities and backgrounds to work together and effect real and lasting change in an important aspect of the local business community.
 
Membership Types

-       Direct membership shall be available to individuals employed by a corporation, association, government agency, or business organization and responsible for the administration of the employer¡¦s travel purchasing services.  Specific job functions may include, but are not limited to, establishment or implementation of travel policy and procedures; travel itinerary planning, expense reimbursement procedures, and liaison with vendors of travel products and services.   Membership shall be vested in the name of the individual and shall not be transferable.
-        Allied membership shall be available to any corporation or business entity, or department thereof, engaged in the business of supplying travel or transportation products or services.  The Allied Member class may include, but is not limited to, airlines, hotels, motels, car rental, travel management companies and ground transportation operators. Membership shall be vested in the name of the company and shall not be transferable.
ALLIED APPLICANTS MUST SPONSOR A NON-MEMBER DIRECT AT TIME OF THEIR APPLICATION.  THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THIS SPONSORSHIP.  ALLIEDS WHO DO NOT SPONSOR A VALID NON-MEMBER DIRECT WILL NOT BE APPROVED AND WILL RECEIVE A REFUND OF THEIR APPLICATION FEE AND DUES.
-        Retired membership may be granted by the Board of Directors when a member in good standing with the Association retires from his/her full time employment.
 
Voting Rights:  Each Direct and Allied Member of the Association shall have one vote in all matters to be voted on by the members.  Allied membership shall have all voting rights and may hold elective office within the Association.
Applications:  Any individual or business desiring to become a member of the Association must apply on forms approved and supplied by the Board of Directors.  Application must be accompanied by the initiation fee of $25.00 and annual dues required for the first year of membership.

Membership Dues:
   

$100  New Direct Member
$200  New Allied Member (Must sponsor a non-member direct at time of application, no additional fee required)

$75    Direct Renewal             
$175 Allied Renewal 

New or renewed membershis applications approved on or after October 1, 2009 will be valid until December 31, 2010.

          
Monthly Meeting Fees:

$60  Member
$85  Direct Guest (guests welcome to attend a maximum of two events per calendar year)

            $95  Non-Member
Due to the need to provide our venues with proper guarantees, walk-ins to meets are strongly discouraged and will be subject to the non-member fee.
